Art and texture combined make a flirtatious pair.
This is the kind of art that draws me in
and begs me to take a step closer.

TEXTILE ART FORMS / FIBER ARTS

FIBER ART / WEAVING A STORY OF COLOR & TEXTURE

Texture is that reigning element of a piece that draws the viewer in and dares her to stroke the surface. Making art that bespeaks of such a tactile element has long since been a part of who I am as an artist. Creating with textiles has allowed me to harness the mark maker inside of me and physically weave an art marks story into my work.

Repurposing fabric, cloth, and thread enables me to re-invent the fibers themselves, reflecting a style that is unique to me. Dyeing, marking, and reshaping the strands broadens their creative purpose and is the core of my woven tale. Building an art form on the weft of a loom, or twisting simple fibers together, gives me yet another tangible outlet for my words.

Woven through or coiled round, the humble beauty of fiber art is a continuation of my own story. Colorful weavings and pale sturdy vessels remind me that our mark on the world is just as powerful when it is felt, as when it is seen or heard.

Over and under or looped round one another, the entwined threads of fiber arts build upon one another, much like the marks and layers of an art journal. With each new filament, words are carefully tucked within the strands under the guise of knots and color.

It is in these strands that my fond love of texture resides.
